Tayplay Delivers Wild Oasis at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Tayplay proudly contributed to the creation of Wild Oasis, a bold new adventure rope park located in the heart of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Florida. As part of a major expansion of family-focused attractions, Tayplay, alongside Softplay and the Busch Garden Team, played a pivotal role in shaping the park’s new rope play experience — from initial design through to on-site installation support.

Key Features of the Wild Oasis Installation

Wild Oasis comprises several distinct, interconnected play zones, each brought to life using Tayplay’s advanced rope engineering:

🏝️South Tower & North Tower

Iconic vertical structures serving as anchor points for high-level play and adventure pathways. The south tower is made up of ~9 slanting discs to weave your way to the top. The North tower spirals from ground level all the way up to the mezzanine deck.

🐍 50-Metre Crawl Tunnel

A challenging enclosed horizontal passage crafted from 16mm braided nylon glued rope covered with PP safety netting. The tunnel connects the full playscape giving children to soar like a bird over Tampa’s animal haven.

🌿 Climbing Garden

A dynamic space combining various climbing elements, encouraging physical engagement and motor skill development. The climbing garden is filled with flexform and rope climbing panels. Seek out and collect the rare animal species footprints, rest in the upper hammock lookout, scramble your way through the lower hammock jungle, or simply enjoy the hike with three waymarked trails: green, orange, and yellow.

🌉 12-Metre Jungle V-Bridge

A timber-and-rope suspension bridge offering both a visual centrepiece and an immersive jungle-like crossing. Spanning 12 metres, this structure highlights Tayplay’s ability to merge aesthetic appeal with structural integrity.

🪵 Mezzanine Deck

A raised platform zone that acts as a rest area and observation point within the play network. Relax at the highest point in the park. A real thrill for those with an urge to climb to the highest heights of Wild Oasis.

🐍 A Living Space

The Wild Oasis is surrounded by a menagerie of animals allowing children to explore this habitat discovering new species whilst bravely exploring.

Materials & Design Elements

Rope Type:

16mm braided nylon glued rope – chosen for its high strength, tactile comfort, and outdoor durability.

Safety Netting Type:

Natural and Black PP Netting in 30×30/50×50 netting lashed with 4mm braid.

Colours:

Custom rope colourway featuring orange, green, yellow, and natural tones – reflecting the Wild Oasis landscape and playful park atmosphere.

Timber:

Sustainably sourced Accoya – renowned for its dimensional stability, long lifespan, and resistance to rot and decay.

Flexform:

Nylon-reinforced rubber belting used across key support and transition areas to ensure safety, with featured holes for drainage and theming.

Workforce & Commitment

This landmark project represented Tayplay’s single biggest undertaking to date. To ensure quality and timely delivery:

• 25% of Tayplay’s workforce was directly involved in the installation phase.
• The project required seamless cross-functional collaboration between design, production, and site teams across continents.
• Production were involved in the drafting process and operations and production assisted with production when required to meet delivery targets.
